On 2 October, 2025, the latest SPD Public Lecture welcomed Prof Amber McKinley, a world expert in clinical and forensic victimology whose research spans critical areas such as victim vulnerabilities, human exploitation, interpersonal violence and sudden death. In addition to her academic achievements, she collaborates with key agencies, including the Australian Border Force, the Australian Defence Force, Australian Federal Police, state coroners, and law enforcement organisations.
In this talk, Prof McKinley shared with us her research and insights on homicide and its multidimensional causes. Thank you to all those who joined and especially to the students on SPD419 “Research for Social Welfare Development” who asked so many excellent questions in this highly engaging session.
