CEO of Gobal Alms, Mechelle Moore, delivers SPD public lecture on tackling human trafficking and transnational organised crime
On 18 March, 2026, Ms Mechelle Moore, a specialist in anti-human trafficking and transnational organised crime, delivered an inspiring two hour account of how she, as CEO, and her colleagues and partner organisations, are saving victims of modern slavery from the criminals who deal in trafficking, sexual exploitation and physical abuse of men, women and children . Informative and thought-provoking, this lecture provided rare insights into how the criminals operate and how efforts are being made to prevent them, and to save those who are trapped in scam centers and other exploitative situations. Students from the first year on SPD as well as students from other faculties asked excellent questions, and Sarah Mai represented the students in thanking Mechelle for her lecture at the end. Opportunities exist to work together with Global Alms on research collaboration as well as internships.
